CNN Cuts Away to Two commercial Segments at Start Of Bush's speech


After reporting all morning about North Korea's nuclear detonation, CNN's Headline News Network (HNN) announced that they would be cutting away at approximately 9:30 AM to air President Bush's address to the nation concerning the detonation.



The President finally addressed the nation at about 10:00 AM. As soon as HNN announced "Breaking News" they aired two commercial segments and then returned to Bush's address which was already halfway done.



This blogger is not a huge Bush fan, but one would assume that the thoughts of the president on one of the most significant developments
in worldwide affairs would outweigh a few commercials. There was no apology from HNN to explain it away as a technical mishap, the programming went on as usual.



HNN's complacency is only symptomatic of bigger "who cares" attitude
that pervades America. The TV media has no stomach for actual news unless it is instantly gratifying or sensational and sexy.
